About Us
Site Philosophy
What is a “Noisy Whisper”? You could say this contradictory pairing of words was inspired by the desire to be heard in today’s already overcrowded arena of web sites and social media. Or that it comes from the Bible passage where Elijah encountered God not in the fire or the earthquake or the storm, but in the still, small voice amid all that chaos. Perhaps it’s simply a metaphor for finding deep meaning in unexpected places.
Whatever you prefer. For us, it’s probably all of the above. Plus, we were just happy to find a cool-sounding, provocative name that was available as a URL.
Like it or not, we live in a media-driven culture. For those who embrace that fact, we at Noisy Whisper are committed to informing readers about the latest releases in pop culture, primarily music and movies, all from a Christian viewpoint. The goal is to simply enjoy everyday entertainment and hopefully find some greater understanding of ourselves in the process.
Though we have a heart and passion for the “Christian music” genre, we prefer to think of ourselves less “a Christian site” and more “a site run by Christians.” That might seem like splitting hairs to some, but to us it’s an important distinction. We believe art, entertainment, and spirituality all surpass the boundaries of a niche market. “Christian music” can’t be defined by a particular sound or a radio station or even a single sub-culture. It’s a genre driven by ideas that surpass even the artists who create it.
So yes, you can expect us to talk about media that comes from the Christian industry, but we’ll also be discussing things that interest us in the mainstream. This is not a “safe” site in the strictest, evangelical interpretation of that word. But you can be sure that we’ll keep things fairly wholesome and mention if we feel something contains potentially objectionable content.
We're here to serve by connecting artists with audience, reflecting on the things that are popular while introducing things that are not as well known. We hope you find Noisy Whisper informative and insightful in covering music, movies … and much more.
